Tower Hamlets - Connection Coalition: Loneliness and mental health event

Loneliness can negatively impact our mental health and having poor mental health can increase loneliness. This event aims to bring together organisations in the borough working to reduce loneliness and organisations working to support mental health.

Come along to explore what support is available and how we can work better together. Hosted by Tower Hamlets Public health in collaboration with Tower Hamlets Community Voluntary Sector and MIND.

Teas, coffees and refreshments from 9.30am with speakers and interactive sessions from 10 am to 1pm.

This event is suitable for groups working to address loneliness in Tower Hamlets, from estate or neighbour-led projects to borough-wide voluntary sector, health, community and statutory partners and groups supporting people with mental health conditions.

Improving how the Council and NHS can work with people and the voluntary and community sector to improve health and care services

Local health and care organisations along partners in the voluntary and community sector and Healthwatch want to involve people better the way services are reviewed and developed. This is important as services need to make sure they are using their resources in the best way to treat and support people. This is about how everyone can work together better to make sure health and care services are accessible and work for all the people of Tower Hamlets.

This way of working together is known as coproduction. Coproduction is being increasingly used to review and develop services. The Council worked with people develop a document to help people understand what coproduction is about, you can see this document here. A partnership of Council, the NHS, Tower Hamlets Council of Voluntary Services and Healthwatch Tower Hamlets, known as the Tower Hamlets Together (THT) has bought together a group to look into how to improve the use of coproduction.

This group is the THT Coproduction Task and Finish Group. It has been reviewing coproduction in Tower Hamlets and plans a series of meetings from March to May this year to see how coproduction can be better used in the work of the THT partnership. The final meeting in this series of events is a public meeting where people can hear more about this work and say if they think the ideas are good or could be improved. LBTH Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA)

Tower Hamlets Health and Wellbeing Board is in the process of developing an updated Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) for the borough. This is an important document that describes health and wellbeing need and the provision of pharmacy services. The PNA is used to identify need for new pharmacies, review any applications for new pharmacy provision or approving any changes to existing contracts.

They have developed a draft PNA, and residents are now being invited to read the draft report and share their views to help ensure the report reflects local need, both now and in the future. This is a formal consultation that will close at the 31st of March 2023.

Building Strong Communities Fund - Application Support Session

The final round of the Building Strong Communities Fund is open from 16 January with the deadline for applications on 13 March 2023.

£200K is available in microgrants of up to £6k for voluntary and community sector organisations with an annual turnover of £50k or less in their last year's financial accounts. Microgrants will support communities that have been disproportionately impacted by Covid-19 through community-led projects across London.

The Ubele Initiative is holding one-to-one application support sessions to provide guidance to applicants of the Building Strong Communities Fund. Each group will be able to book a 30 min one-to-one session between the hours of 10.00am to 5.00pm.

Riverside Foundation Community Fund

A new Community Fund of £250,000 has been launched by The Riverside Group to help boost local projects and opportunities for their customers and local communities.

The fund is open to customers, charities, not-for-profit organisations, clubs, constituted groups, informal groups and individuals. It’s open throughout 2022/23 and the only stipulation is that the project must aim to improve the lives of Riverside customers and our local communities.

Riverside is looking to support a range of projects aimed at promoting opportunities and wellbeing for their customers – this could be anything from supporting a wellbeing session at your local community centre to buying sports equipment for your football team.

There are three levels of funding – small projects under £3,000; wider projects in need of between £3,000 and £10,000; and larger-scale initiatives which need grants of over £10,000. Find out more and apply.

Bitesize HR training with Compass Wellbeing

Compass Wellbeing are hosting HR bitesize training. This session is called ‘Having Difficult Conversations’. Overview: Learn different approaches to resolve problematic work-place conversations.
